The BI Software Engineer will play a key role in working closely with the Business Intelligence team and our internal business stakeholders  to work towards the common goal of creating, delivering, training and supporting strategic reports across our organisation. Our developers are responsible for presenting and evaluating complex business problems and mapping opportunities using data to provide insights to decision makers. The person in this role interprets trends and patterns in data to find impact. This role leads efforts to help Costco Travel leverage current data  best practices and tools. In addition, they are critical in working with specific internal departments to provide feedback and support towards our shared goals. The ideal candidate will have experience gathering user requirements and conducting internal training on solutions and methods. The individual in this role must be able to work with multiple teams, proactively seek strategic insights, efficiencies, problem solve and escalate when necessary.

 ROLE

•  Develops or prototypes software modules  of varying complexity, including but not limited to: service interfaces, process flows, service notifications, SOA components, business logic, UI/UX, or data access.
•  Develops efficient code in various development languages ​​for improvements and bug fixes.  
• Designs, develops, tests and implements software solutions and process flows according to standards, guidelines and best practices. 
•  Executes against project plans and completes tasks within scope, schedule and budget.
•   Create, execute and evaluate first/integration tests. 
•  Adopts and adapts to newly introduced technologies, programming languages, tools and standards.
•   Identifies, evaluates and articulates architectural impacts and solutions to business requirements.  
• Collaborates to ensure that appropriate patterns and standards are used in application design.
•  Analyze user needs and program requirements to determine project feasibility  within time and cost constraints, including  ability to estimate required work.
•  Assess functional and non-functional requirements and create plans that meet both business and technical needs.
•   Prepare conceptual and detailed technical design documents.
•   Provides implementation expertise  to assist with recovery, post-installation migration, data migration and other  required artifacts, including creation of support plans.

•  Identifies and resolves problems, often preventing problems before they occur or escalate, develops and evaluates alternatives, and implements solutions.
•   Uses critical thinking  to analyze booking trends, member behavior, network analytics and other quantitative and qualitative data.
•  Uses exploratory data analysis, statistical analysis and data science principles. 
•  Prepares data for predictive and prescriptive modeling.  

Conducts rapid discovery and analysis to gain strategic insights into member purchasing and travel trends.

•   reate dashboards that highlight and draw attention to complex business rules. 
•  Identifies analytical insights and provides objective recommendations for next steps when possible. 
•  Manages congestion; set priorities.
•   Communicate project status, risks, dependencies and roadblocks to technical and non-technical audiences.  
• Evaluate and improve existing BI reports and deliver a steady stream of new and innovative dashboards.
•   Visualize data with Tableau. 
•  Participates in the definition and implementation of data management for accuracy and clarity.
•  Collect information about user requirements.
•  works with other analysts to maintain our dashboards; make sure they are up to date and accurate.  
• Effectively communicates and advises a variety of skill levels and personality types, including senior management.

 REQUIRED

•  years of experience working with stakeholders, understanding business requirements and delivering results.
•   years of experience as a BI Developer or Data Analyst  or similar.
•  years of experience working with large data sets to obtain and present actionable results.
•  3 years of experience building advanced analytics dashboards for continuous measurement and self-service needs etc. (Tableau preferred).  
• 2 years of experience applying traditional data principles using current best practices and existing tools such as ML algorithms, Alteryx, AML, etc.
•  2 years experience in SQL queries, SSIS and SSRS. 
•  Ability to multitask and work proactively and independently. 
•  Experience with ETL/ELT tools including ADF or equivalent.
•   Experience defining reporting solutions that incorporate large data sets from multiple sources.  
• Comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
•   Proven experience in creating and implementing advanced business strategy
